Interview #10 J. M. Warwick

I recently had time to chat with J M Warwick author of A Season Of Eden!

Where did the idea of the book come from?
Girls having crushes on their teachers is nearly as old as sin itself. In fact, I don't know many girls who didn't have a crush on a teacher at one point in their schooling career! I did. But he was waaay old and more fatherly than a hottie like James Christian.

How long did it take you to complete the book?
About 3 months to write, another 3 to edit.

How long did it take from the start of the book and getting it published?
About 2 years. But, as you know, I am indie pubbed. The concept of the cover, the book trailer and all was my idea. I LOVE the cover. LOVE the back, with the piano keys. I really like publishing my own stuff because I can keep control over the creative aspect.

Did you listen to music when writing this book?
Totally. Eden's soundtrack is moody, dark and sexy. I only wish I'd found CHANCES by Athletes earlier. That song pretty much embodies A SEASON OF EDEN.

Do you have any writing advice for aspiring writers?
Read a lot and find good critique partners. Good critique partners are as essential as a good marriage partner. :)


What is your next project and when will it be in our hands?
Next project is another YA project: OVERPROTECTED, about a girl whose father goes to obsessive lengths to keep her safe.

A Season of Eden - J. M. Warwick

J. M. Warwick is an amazing author.
I have spoke to other reviewers who agree with me on this.

However when I read about her new book A Season Of Eden, I will not lie. I was worried.
This book could make her or break her.
I feel silly even thinking that--She has proven that she is an amazing author all over to me again.

Eden is one of the most popular girls in school.
He is the new teacher.
And there is nothing in the world she wants more then him.

The whole concept of the book was amazing--I was at first repulsed at the 'subject' matter--but Warwick pointed out important pieces of the story--which helped me see 'the other side of things'.

I highly suggest this book to anybody--regardless if you are interested in romance novels or not, this book could be enjoyed by EVERYONE!

He's my teacher. I shouldn't be alone with him. But I can't help that he's irresistible.

I let the door silently close at my back. He stared at me, and a taut quiet stretched between us.

"I like hearing you play." I said, moving toward him.

He turned, in sync with my slow approach. He looked up at me but didn't say anything, I rested my clammy hand on the cold, slick body of the baby grand. "May I?"

The muscles in his throat shifted, then he swallowed "Eden."

My knees weakened, like a soft tickling kiss had just been blown against the backs of them. "Is it okay?" I asked.

His gaze held mine like two hands joined. He understood what I was really asking.

"Let me stay," I said. "Please."

"You're going to get me in trouble."

Interview #7 with J M Warwick!!

Where did the idea of your book come from?
An Open Vein stewed in my head for years. The idea of a revenge taking over someone to the point where they truly lost reality intruiged me. And I loved the idea of a love triangle with a child in the middle, both the imagery and the possibilities were very cool to me.

What is a typical day in your shoes?
I have 6 children, ages 11-22 who all live at home. So I get everyone on their way then start writing. I write from 9-5 every day that I can.

What are your writing habits (daily goals… ect)?
No goals. Just concentrated writing. With a few jumps from the computer to keep the blood flowing and my rear-end from spreading.

How long did it take from the start of the book and getting it published?
3 years.

What was your favorite part & least favorite part?
I loved it all. Being an indie author, I got to create my own cover image -- which I think is one of the strongest covers I've EVER seen. Who says authors can't decide their own covers? Who knows better what the story is about, right? I also loved finding the syringe pens I give out when I sell a book, or just give out for promo purposes. Do you listen to music while you write?
Definitely. Coldplay and Keene for An Open Vein

Do you have any writing advice for aspiring writers?
The subjectivity of the business can kill you, so do your own thing.

What is your next project and when will it be in our hands?
