I have a confession to make. I lied about my birthday. Not so much because I wanted to hide my age (although I’m not always forthcoming about that, either). I just thought I was being smart.When I started writing books, I decided it was finally time to get a myspace page, but when it came time to fill out the profile, I thought, wow – that’s too much personal information. Clearly, I didn’t understand the purpose for including my birthday. So I entered a random date. I think it made me 99 years old.
The problem is, a lot of online friends started sending me birthday wishes on the bogus date. Even after I corrected them. Even after I changed the date on my profile. Even after I joined facebook and entered the correct birthday over there.
So if you are one of my myspace friends and have been sending me birthday emails in January, thank you! But my birthday is actually in July.
